Finally got the new ASUS ROG Strix at my place and got to test it out a little bit, so heres a informational review of it I made, if you have any questions or corrections lmk! It’s a pretty dependable gaming laptop. I noticed the design is way more toned down than older Strix laptops and simialr to the new Lenovo Legions, but it still has the necessary gaming tunes. It’s fast, cool under pressure, and has just the right amount of RGB (may or may not be good). The 165Hz screen, RTX 5060, and its slightly better cooling than last year makes the laptop a good choice for gamers that might want a clean looking laptop but something powerful at the same time.
TL;DR – The laptop itself is a great, well-rounded option with next-gen specs, and it delivers some impressive performance. It’s a well-rounded gaming laptop with next-gen specs and clean performance. Although I do think the new Lenovo Legion is a bit better value. Handles AAA games with no problem, stays decently cool, and battery life isn’t too bad either (for a gaming rig). The speakers are kinda loud and have a powerful bass, so no need for external speakers. It’s a solid option if your budget isn’t too high.
Performance
This thing’s performance is really impressive for any 1080p gaming. The RTX 5060 is a new-gen card that can handle overloading tasks with pretty good efficiency. I played Cyberpunk, Wukong demo, and Elden Ring, all of which ran great on high settings. Frame Generation with DLSS 3/4 helps a ton. I was able to maintain 100+ fps in lighter games like Valorant and Apex. The i7-14650HX helps keep things snappy even when multitasking or running background apps.
Fans do ramp up while gaming, but it’s not too crazy. And the thermals were surprisingly chill, like mid 70s°C range most of the time. You can game on this for hours and not feel like it’s cooking your hand. For general stuff like web browsing or homework, it’s quiet and cool. Armoury Crate, that is a software utility in ROG gaming products, and it lets you tweak performance modes too, which I liked.
Battery Life
Battery life isn’t terrible. Got about 3-4 hours just doing regular stuff (browsing, docs, streaming) in Silent mode with brightness around 50%. Gaming on battery gives you like 1–1.5 hours tops — not shocking. The 90Wh battery helps, and you can charge it via USB-C, which is clutch if you don’t wanna lug the big charger around. It also charges fast, like 0–50% in half an hour.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Strong next-gen performance (RTX 5060 + i7 HX CPU)
- 165Hz screen is smooth
- Clean design, not overly gamer-looking
- Decent battery life for non-gaming use
- Upgradeable RAM and storage
- Per-key RGB + good keyboard layout
- Runs cool for a gaming laptop
Cons
- Display is only 1080p+, no HDR
- Speakers are okay, not amazing
- Touchpad click feels hollow
- A bit heavy to carry daily
- No SD card slot
Tips for Buyers
- Debloat it with CTT Debloat, you can remove a lot of unnecessary junk easily.
- Use Armoury Crate to set up silent mode for regular use — it helps with battery
- Upgrade to 32GB RAM if you edit or stream
- Turn off RGB and switch to iGPU for better battery
- Get a USB-C charger for travel if you don’t wanna carry the brick
Overall:
The ROG Strix G16 (2025) is one of those laptops that just works. It’s got power, solid cooling, and doesn’t scream “gamer” with too much RGB or bulk. I honestly have nothing bad to say besides the speakers being better and the Legion potentially being a better deal.
Very nice product
you like it, thanks
